Botox Statistics

The popularity of Botox injections has been growing rapidly in recent years, with a massive 700% increase since 2000 [1]. It’s an exciting time in the field, so here is an infographic with some interesting statistics about the current state of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure.

4.85 million is the number of Botulinum Toxin injections administered in the US in 2013 [2]. It is expected to expand 14% annually until 2018, where it will account for over half of a $4.7 billion industry [3].

The majority of treatments are carried out by doctors. Nurses provide an alternative for more budget oriented clients, but are still fully qualified and insured.

It is interesting that 10% of treatments are now carried out on men, who often sneak off at lunchtime for their fix to avoid letting their partners know. Experts claim an increasing number of men are having these procedures to keep up with partners, who are also undertaking cosmetic treatments [4]. This isn’t the only issue that seems to be more of a factor for men than for women – males are more likely to receive anti-wrinkle injections so as not to appear old at work, fearing age discrimination.
